Toronto Blue Jays Secure Fall Classic Showdown Versus Los Angeles Dodgers
Springer contributed to the Astros claiming the World Series in the 2017 season.
Toronto's Blue Jays advanced to their initial championship series following 1993 by overcoming the Mariners in the seventh seventh game of the American League Championship Series.
Down 3-1, the star outfielder smashed a three-run homer in the seventh, guiding the Toronto squad in MLB to a four games to three win in the seven-game series. Next up are the Dodgers, holders of the defending champions, in the forthcoming World Series.
"It's incredible for this squad, the city, Canada," said Springer, an integral part of the Astros team that secured the 2017 World Series. "This is such an unbelievable moment."
The veteran has now slugged 23 total October home runs, placing him third all-time after Manny Ramirez (29) and Altuve (27).
"There's probably not another player on planet Earth that I want up in that spot except for him with his playoff prowess," said Schneider.
The Mariners, who had led the early in the series, continue to be the one club yet to make an appearance in a Fall Classic.
Manager Dan Wilson stated "there's no question that it's painful" in the wake of his team's loss at their home ballpark, but applauded their efforts this season.
"They're an exceptional squad. Unfortunately that we had to come out on the wrong side of this one," he continued.
Toronto's team won the title on both previous visits in 1992 and '93, and are set to host the Dodgers in the first game on the upcoming Friday.
