The Streaming Giant Chooses Spot-On Performer for Bon Clay in the Hit Series Third Season

Baroque Works is set to make a major impact in the next installment of Netflix’s show of One Piece, though the major clash won’t take place until the third season, and a adored, popular member has recently been selected.

Netflix announced this week that Cole Escola has joined the One Piece season 3 cast and will play Bentham. The role has the ability to morph into an identical duplicate of anyone they’ve touched with their dominant hand. Escola, who is non-binary and goes by they/them, will portray a interpretation of that character re-envisioned as non-binary, as opposed to as a drag artist, in the live-action series, differing from the original manga and cartoon version.

The new cast member will work alongside a number of recently announced actors who will portray the group to life, including head Mr. 0, portrayed by the well-known actor, an emerging star as Miss Goldenweek, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who is also part of the lineup as King Nefertari Cobra of Alabasta.

Though Bon Clay is a major member of the organization, the character won’t appear until One Piece the third season. Given season 2 likely to portray the Little Garden arc, this marks a notable change in the schedule of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could suggest more adjustments to the story’s structure.

Their mix of precise humor and profound feeling makes them a perfect fit for the character. Besides their current animated role in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they garnered significant recognition and several accolades for penning and acting in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, showcasing the range they’ll add to one of One Piece’s most celebrated figures.

Netflix's live-action One Piece show is due to premiere for its next installment on March 10, 2026.
