The Division Makes Its Way to the Tabletop Gaming World as a Deeply Strategic TTRPG

The intense world of Tom Clancy’s The Division will be adapted into a tabletop role-playing experience. A collaboration has been formed to develop a tabletop RPG set within the series' apocalyptic landscape. This initiative was revealed, with a funding drive planned to launch in the spring of 2026.

"This project aims to deliver the series' unique suspense, tactical intensity, and iconic world-building to the table, offering fans a new way to engage with The Division through deep narrative and mission-based gameplay," states an official release.

Initial offerings are set to feature a starter set, core rulebooks, a Game Master screen, miniatures, and several deluxe editions.

Delving Into The Division's Apocalyptic World

In this universe, a lethal pathogen called Green Poison was released in New York City, plunging the nation into chaos. As the crisis worsens, society crumbles and violent factions emerge, transforming the urban landscape into a battlefield. To restore order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a covert network of sleeper agents. That’s where the players enter the story.

Work on the game has been in progress for approximately three years, and it is reportedly complete. The forthcoming Kickstarter campaign will serve as a pre-launch sales platform to access a broader audience, specifically in North America. Manufacturing will start immediately following the fundraiser, with deliveries projected for later in 2026.

A Streamlined Tactical System: The GRIS System

An early look at the system confirms it employs d10s exclusively through its proprietary GRIS system, promoting a streamlined and tactical style. Agents use skills or traits to roll a handful of dice, usually between one and five d10s.

  • Rather than adding results together, participants choose a single “result die” from the group.
  • This die is then compared against a target difficulty.
  • Achieving a natural 10 grants additional bonuses, such as extra damage or boosted support.

Engagements Focus On Positioning and Situational Insight

Battles prioritize placement and environmental awareness, mirroring the video games. Elements like taking cover, height advantage, or visibility have a direct impact success chances. This system seems built to reward teamwork and clever tactics over simple statistics.

A Thematic Wound Mechanic

The way injuries is managed adds a compelling narrative layer. Operatives have a injury limit; taking heavy hits reduces their effectiveness by lowering the size of their dice pool.

  1. At critical condition, an operative is downed, but they’re not knocked out.
  2. They can still crawl and take limited actions, simulating the "downed" state common to many shooter games.
  3. Any player knocked down must roll on a injury chart, potentially gaining lingering conditions like shock or crippling injuries.

A Ready-to-Play Scenario

A publicly available introductory rulebook will be released soon. It includes a pre-made introductory scenario called Ashes of Murray Hill. In this mission, players spearhead the search for a lost doctor squad and must thwart an attack by the notorious Rikers faction, who have seized control of that NYC neighborhood. Further information and the full range of offerings are expected to be unveiled closer to the campaign launch.
