Supporters Demand Custody of Man Who Touched Ariana Grande
Loyal followers of the actress are demanding that a individual who breached a fence and touched the performer during yesterday's Wicked: For Good premiere be arrested or expelled from Singapore.
A widely shared footage reveals the Australian man shoving aside media personnel and rushing toward Grande while the cast made its way down a yellow carpet accompanied by fans.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo immediately pulled the stunned star away from Mr Wen, who was observed being escorted out of the event by guards.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "released after being detained", though official papers showed that he was scheduled to appear on Friday morning. It is unknown if he was faced legal action.
History of Event Invasions
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Controversial Figure", has crashed a celebrity gathering. His Instagram account includes clips of him disrupting other star-studded functions, including rushing the platform at the artist's Sydney performance in June this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers concert in the area last year.
"There needs to be action taken against him as this is clearly a punishable act," wrote an Instagram follower, in a reply to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his behavior.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" one Instagram user questioned.
Followers Show Disapproval Over the Star's Well-being
Numerous fans blamed Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had spoken of experiencing PTSD after a terrorist explosion at the finale of her spring 2017 performance in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and harming many.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" wrote one more response on Instagram.
Some fans also criticised event staff at the premiere for not being sufficiently alert; while some requested social media platforms to ban Mr Wen's content.
Response and Premiere Information
In clips shared widely, Grande appeared shocked when she was touched by the intruder. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen consoling her while Mr Wen was led out by guards.
Grande has remained silent on the incident, and the rest of the event continued without further issues.
Many of attendees had gathered in a sea of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good regional debut in a Singapore shopping center, including several who had waited for as long as many hours before it began.
The film, to be released on 21 November, is the sequel of a two-film version of the well-known Broadway and West End production Wicked, which focuses on the surprising bond between two very different characters.
The musical itself is a derivative of the twentieth-century children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the character Glinda Glinda, was decked out in a light pink sparkling outfit at the gathering while Erivo, who acts as the Elphaba, wore a black tube gown featuring roses.
They were alongside fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the most successful film of 2024 in the UK, and scored 10 Oscar nominations, securing two for outstanding attire and artistic direction.
