Renowned Actor Pat Finn, Recognized For Roles in Friends and The Middle, Passes Away at 60 Years Old.
American performer Pat Finn, who featured in beloved programs such as Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has succumbed at the age of 60.
The skilled improv artist died at home in LA this Monday following cancer treatment beginning in 2022, as reported by media reports.
"He saw everyone as a friend - just potential friends he had yet to meet," his relatives stated in a announcement.
They added that he had "embraced life completely - with happiness and energy".
A Prolific TV Career
His initial on-screen part was on the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he played the brother of the main character.
He also had a repeating character on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.
He starred as Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in the late 90s, portraying a social organizer famous for delegating unpleasant chores to his guests.
During the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he had guest spots on several hit series, including:
- "King of Queens"
- "Friends"
- That '70s Show
- "House"
He was most recognized for portraying Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight series over nearly a decade.
His cinematic roles include It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.
A Life in Improv
Away from his television work, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.
He was part of a comedy group of six called Beer Shark Mice.
"He coached, befriended and mentored many learners throughout the years and it would be difficult to find a person anyplace who has anything negative to say about him," his family wrote.
In a tribute, peer actor Richard Kind said there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, authentic human being you could encounter".
"Always positive, making those around him better and funnier. An excellent dad and person," he posted on social media.
Finn is remembered by his partner Donna, his children, and his parents and siblings.
