This weather system, which registered wind speeds of up to 120 mph as of 06:00 GMT, is presently veering north-west in the Caribbean region and is expected to hit the coast by Tuesday, as reported by hurricane specialists.

Warnings of blackouts and disruption to utilities have been announced as the hurricane produces up to thirty inches of rain and coastal flooding as high as 13ft above normal levels. "Find safe refuge immediately," residents have been urged.

This hurricane is the 13th hurricane in the current Atlantic storm period, which typically ends in November.
