Fast bowler Gus Atkinson Exacerbates England's Fitness Problems.

'Significant concern' for England after Atkinson goes off with a hamstring injury.

Gus Atkinson further complicated the fitness woes of the England squad after leaving the playing area during Saturday's play in the Melbourne Test in the Ashes series.

Atkinson felt a problem in his left leg after the final ball in his spell at the MCG.

The England team indicated the 27-year-old had experienced "tightness" and required time on the sidelines for further assessment "during the day".

The series decider of the series at the SCG gets underway this coming Sunday.

England have already lost strike bowlers one seamer to a knee injury and another paceman to a side strain on the current trip.

Matthew Fisher was brought into the squad to provide backup.

The seamer had a tough time early in the series, managing only a handful of scalps.

He was left out from the previous Test, before being recalled for the fourth Test as Archer's replacement.

The county bowler showed better form in Melbourne, claiming a couple of wickets during the host's first knock, before adding 28 while batting as one of just three English batsmen who passed ten runs.

After bowling one over at the end of day one, he returned the next day and dismissed the nightwatchman taken by the wicketkeeper.

Unfortunately, on the final ball of the fifth over, he bowled a change of pace to the batsman and promptly felt at his leg.

Atkinson was brought back for the Boxing Day Test after being left out of the third.
