Note: This article avoids spoilers concerning the final episode
The final installment of the celebrity version of the popular reality show was mistakenly made available by overseas broadcasters prior to its planned UK airing on Thursday, as confirmed official sources.
Reports indicate that the final was watched by a small number of viewers of the streaming service Crave in Canada; they could watch it for a short period before it was removed.
The episode being released was not considered a mistake by the original broadcaster, and a spokesperson for the corporation asked those who think they have discovered the outcome of the series to "refrain from posting any reveals".
"We kindly ask those who believes they have uncovered the ending of the celebrity edition to keep any information they have to themselves," the statement read.
"We ask you to refrain from sharing potential spoilers so that the vast audience who have been closely watching every development of the show can experience the final this evening."
The Celebrity Traitors is currently the top-rated TV show of the current year, with an average of 12.6m viewers across the first four episodes.
Viewers of the series have been waiting to see whether traitors Cat Burns and Alan Carr will win the £100,000 prize for charity or whether loyal contestants Joe Marler, Nick Mohammed and David Olosuga will be triumphant.
A former winner of the third season of The Traitors commented that "no one likes spoilers", which are "the thief of joy".
He said they will be sitting down to watch the finale this evening as it airs, with all of his family and "a bucket of popcorn".
Thursday's concluding installment is extended to 70 minutes on the main channel, with an longer version of the companion show scheduled to broadcast on BBC Two after the finale.
Host Ed Gamble will be joined by the contestants and Claudia Winkleman as they react to the show's outcome.
